New Covenant Destiny
"God wants you prosperous!" exclaims the preacher of today. "Have the faith of Abraham, and you'll be rich like he was. This is our inheritance. Afterall, God owns the cattle on a thousand hills," he says with dollar signs in his eyes, enticing those who have itching ears, and those who either from misfortune or self-induced money problems, sit as his prey.
These "teachings", false though they be, lay a foundation for accepting more lies, and that is in believing that the destiny that God has for us, involves the fulfillment of our own hopes and dreams, usually involving doing want we want to do, supported by the money we make.
Maybe under the Old Covenant the physical was the focus, but only as to represent things of the spirit such as circumsion (representing that which was to come of "the circumcision of the heart") or the physical temple (representing the spiritual temple of our bodies where the Lord now dwells) or the wealth of Abraham (representing the riches we now have in Christ.) Most everything in the Old Testament represented what was to come in the new and living way, through Christ. He is looking for worshipers who will worship Him in Spirit and in truth. All things have become new.
Satan loves for us to live in the shadows, and not to cross over to the real. But, the New is the replacement of the Old. He loves it whenever it's taught that "you can have it all" and "it's all about you," in order to keep us heaping it on ourselves, and justifying it in the name of Jesus. If we do succumb to these beliefs, then God's purposes will be thwarted through us. That is satan's goal.
Not saying that wealth won't come to some, and if they are truly surrendered, they will be about their father's business in using it, as they will surrender it to His use. He does promise to take care of our needs, when we trust Him to provide. And, He also teaches us to be content with whatever He provides for us. And if He does send us money, it is so that we can have for those who are in need. He desires us to tend to His house,(the Body of Christ) instead of building our own, or laying up treasure in our barns, so to speak. He wants us to "let Him" use all of our resources for His glory, and that depends on if we open ourselves up to wanting what He wants.(The surrendered life) If we do, then He will indeed fulfill His True and Eternal purposes in our lives. If we don't, we will fulfill ours, while all along thinking it's His, as the flesh and satan can justify anything. (Even giving us Scriptures to do so.)
Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on Earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
