The Hippie Manifesto is Happening!
Deep within the spirit of man is a desire put there by God looking for the "restoration of all things" which is spoken of in His Word. This desire has expressed itself in many ways throughout history. In the 1960's, continuing in the early 70's, a mantra rang out in the hippie generation in America and abroad with the words of a song-"all we are saying is give peace a chance."
People desire for there to be no more hatred, war and derision, in it's many forms, on this earth. The problem is that they believe falsely that man, in his unredeemed state, can bring this about. In their attempt to make this happen, they cause even more division. Without the power of God on the inside of people, given to them when they receive His Son, Jesus Christ, this desire is thwarted and defeated time and time again.
But, there's a new day coming and is yet here! God is maturing His own sons by the dealings of the cross on the inside of them, and He, through them, is indeed restoring all things presently. Christ in us, the hope of glory, is bringing it to pass in the unseen realm of His Kingdom.
"He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore." Isaiah 2:4.
I am of that generation where this cry was put forth, but the understanding was not present at that time in the heart of man. But presently, it is given to those who have ears to hear!
I am wearing my hippie necklace today to remind me that the desire which my generation voiced is coming to pass in it's truest sense, as He restores all things as at the beginning when men walked in the Presence of the Lord in the cool of the evening, and all was well.
